Remaining Large Scale SAFe® artifacts

In the previous section, we learned that the Large Solution SAFe configuration includes five additional artifacts. Let’s take a closer look at the purpose of each of these artifacts.

  • Milestones: Help Solution Trains track progress toward the achievement of specific goals and events—SAFe implements three types of milestones: PI Milestones, Fixed-Date Milestones, and Learning Milestones.
  • Shared Services: Provide individuals with specialized skills to augment the resources of the ARTs or Solution Trains. However, the shared services personnel do not get assigned as dedicated or full-time resources. They augment resources, and the trains need to plan to coordinate the use of shared services personnel on an as-needed basis.
  • Communities of Practices (CoPs): Organized groups of people who have a common interest in a specific technical or business domain. They get together frequently to share information, improve or...
