Lean Governance and Milestones

In the last set of ongoing Process Groups, you will see governance listed as one of the identified desired process outcomes. Some Agile practitioners view governance as antithetical to the notion that Agile teams should be autonomous and free to make choices regarding standards and practices, and simply use transparency to expose their work.

In contrast, DA takes the view that Lean governance practices, along with associated Milestones, are essential regardless of the type of development practices that are employed (that is, Agile, Lean, or traditional). Lean governance helps to ensure that the teams build in quality, increase their knowledge, deliver quickly, eliminate waste, optimize the whole system with systems thinking, and respect people.
