Deploying Kali Linux

Kali Linux is the most popular Linux-based penetration testing operating system within the cybersecurity industry. It contains all the essential tools an ethical hacker and penetration tester would need to discover and exploit security vulnerabilities on systems, networks, and applications.

Part 1 – setting up Kali Linux as a virtual machine

To get started with deploying Kali Linux as a virtual machine, use the following steps:

  1. Firstly, go to the official Kali Linux website at https://www.kali.org/get-kali/ and click on Virtual Machines, as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. Next, click on VirtualBox 64 to download the Kali Linux VirtualBox file, as shown in the following screenshot:
