Time for action – configuring the shipping cost
Let's configure the shipping cost calculation for our online shop:
Navigate to the Around the Corner community as the admin, and click on the Configuration mode of the Shopping portlet.
Click on the Shipping Calculation tab and then enter the values as shown in the following screenshot. After setting the following values, click on the Save button.
What just happened?
We just configured the shipping cost for our online shop. We configured the Flat Amount formula for calculating the shipping cost. Liferay provides five different bands for providing the shipping cost. We have set the shipping cost for all the five bands.
Let's understand the shipping cost calculation with an example. Suppose a buyer orders five different types of flower bouquets in an online order. The total cost of all the five bouquets is coming to around $72. So this order falls in the $50 - $99.99 band. Hence as per our configuration, we will charge $8 for shipping.
