Guaranteeing accuracy

When selecting a biometric, the design decision is based on a number of factors. When looking over the product specifications, you’ll see a list of the benefits and features. Details can include how it interacts with the users, system requirements, and product capabilities.

One key factor is to determine how accurate the selected system is under varying conditions. It’s important to provide acceptable error rates, but also be resistant to spoofing. The team should review the product specifications to understand the true nature of the product. In addition, the specifications should provide reassurance that the quality and standards are in line with the business requirements. This is particularly important if the biometrics are intended for government identification (ID) solutions, such as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
