We covered quite a bit in this chapter starting with a look at the frequency spectrum and continuing with a discussion on some of the communications technologies we may use in our edge analytics applications.
Understanding how frequency, transmission range, and bandwidth work together is essential in deciding on the technologies to use for our applications. By far the easiest and most widely used communications technology is Wi-Fi. It is ideal if our application is able to connect to a Wi-Fi source to gain access to the internet. For more remote edge analytics applications, other technologies must be looked at such as cellular and LoRa.
