It is recommended to organize servers in a set of groups as, otherwise, if there are a lot of servers added, it will become more difficult to find the relevant one.
The groups should be based on the functionality of a server. This can be a generic group:
- webservers
- appservers
- dbservers
Organizing servers into groups will also help us to quickly push patches to multiple systems at once; we will discuss this in the later sections.
Spacewalk provides a great feature to organize systems into Systems Groups, which allows us to organize servers into specific groups.
In the following screenshot, if you look at the left-hand side tab panel, there is a tab named System Groups. For our demo purpose, I have added one more server:
