Part 2 – iMovie for macOS
iMovie on the Mac is the flagship version of the app: it has more creative scope than the mobile version, and has a structure that more closely resembles other NLEs. So, this second part of the book is dedicated to using and understanding it.
We’ll start by learning how to organize and import files with iMovie for macOS. We’ll then take the time to understand the way that its timeline is structured, and what the effect of having "connected media" and a "magnetic timeline" is. We’ll also go over some useful keyboard shortcuts for the app, because they are quite literally the shortcut to editing more quickly and confidently.
We’ll then run through a whole video workflow in iMovie, similar to what we did in Chapter 3. This will give us an opportunity to look in depth at the Media Browser for iMovie, and the resources that it offers. We’ll also look at the toolbar tools that allow us to edit color...
