Setting the level to work procedurally
In this section, we will create a landscape and its material to be able to work procedurally in the following sections. The Landmass plugin, Water plugin, and PCG Framework allow us to change our environment creation workflow by introducing specific techniques to generate diverse environments without using the standard brushes and tools we learned about in Chapter 9.
To be able to use all the tools we are going to learn about in this chapter, we need to create a simple landscape setup to make our workflow smoother.
The first thing we need to do is to create a landscape. We can use the default Landscape creation values.

Next, we need to create a Landscape material. We want to create something different from what we learned during Chapter 9 – something more optimized and suitable to be used with the Landmass tool.
