Migrating objects into other layers or sublayers
Before discussing the process for migrating objects from one layer to another, we should discuss how you can go about arranging objects within a single layer. As I mentioned earlier in this chapter, Illustrator will continue to stack objects on top of one another, unless you intervene.
To make changes to the stacking order of objects, you can choose Object > Arrange from the top menu. From there, you will be presented with four choices:
- Bring to Front: Shift + Ctrl/Command + ]
- Bring Forward: Ctrl/Command + ]
- Send Backward: Ctrl/Command + [
- Send to Back: Shift + Ctrl/Command + [
You can use this method for anything within a layer, but it does not allow for migrating it from one layer to another.
