What is site editing?

You may have heard it being called full site editing or customization recently; it all means the same thing, that you are using an editor to edit your entire site. This includes editing sitewide elements like headers, footers, navigation and even site logos.

Support for this new feature was first added in WordPress version 5.9 with the release called Josephine in January 2022. Additional features have been added in multiple releases as this feature has been iterated on and improved.

Those of you who are familiar with other page builders might instantly recognize the interface of the WordPress Site Editor. It has a lot of familiar concepts. It also doesn’t stray too far from the editor we have been using so far. There are a few more options to it, though. We will discover what they are a little later when we walk through the interface.
