Access to Self-Service Portal


As we stated earlier, System Center 2012 SP1 has removed the Self-Service Portal (SSP) feature from SCVMM. And now, this feature has been added into System Center App Controller 2012 SP1. Although SSP is not part of SCVMM anymore, its basic concepts and features are still the same as before.

In this section regarding access to SSP, we will go through the steps we need to take from the SCVMM side to allow the user access to SSP.

Delegation of SSP rights

To access SCVMM SSP, you need to delegate the rights for SSP. SCVMM provides a great level of delegation of rights from the administration to the support level. Generally, SSP access is granted to support personnel and customers to manage their virtual machines. The process of granting access to SSP can be done from both the SCVMM management console and PowerShell. Let's look at an example of delegating SSP access from the SCVMM console:

  1. Open the System Center Virtual Machine Manager console.

  2. Find the Settings tab...
