Capacity planning dashboards, views, and reports

The capacity planning capabilities of vRealize Operations are one of the most powerful features of the solution. They will help you to do the following:

• Never run out of capacity

• Always know how much additional workload can be supported

• Know when you are going to run out of capacity and the resource dimension that is most constrained

• Understand where you have the most capacity and where you are the most constrained

• Improve the utilization of the compute and storage investments that you have made

• Optimize your Virtual Machine density

• Identify where you are wasting resources

You will achieve these by using a combination of dashboards, views, and reports.

I always start with the Capacity Remaining dashboard.

The Capacity Remaining dashboard

Every object in vRealize Operations can have capacity remaining and a badge score calculated. The Capacity Remaining dashboard displays the details of this analysis.
