Managing Actors in a Multiplayer Environment

To properly set up a multiplayer environment in UE5, it’s important that you understand how an Actor’s connection is managed, as well as how its attributes are relevant during a game session.

In this chapter, you will begin enhancing the player character (which currently is just an empty shell) to gain a comprehensive understanding of the previously mentioned concepts. To do this, you’ll add more components to the Character class (a camera is something you will absolutely need!) and implement the player input logic.

Additionally, you will learn why it is important to know who owns an Actor in a multiplayer environment and how it behaves depending on how it is relevant in the level.

By the end of the chapter, you will have solid knowledge of how to manage an Actor within an Unreal multiplayer game, allowing you to create more robust and efficient multiplayer experiences.
