Setting up a lab environment
The rest of the book is going to walk you through the stack’s components, and how to build proof-of-concept observability solutions on top. Aside from the theoretical content, you will get concrete examples that can be reproduced in a lab environment to let you get hands-on. This tangible and practical environment allows you to experiment, understand, and solidify the concepts as they are introduced.
The following diagram illustrates the overall elements involved in the lab setup:

The lab environment consists of the following components:
- Network devices: These are the devices that will be monitored and managed by the observability stack. In this case, we will be using Arista containerized EOS (cEOS) devices, but the same principles apply to other vendors as well.
