Understanding System Center Orchestrator 2012 R2

This section gives you a basic introduction to what System Center Orchestrator 2012 R2 is, and why it is an important component in the BaaS, RaaS, or DRaaS service that you are providing in your datacenter.

An everyday situation for many companies is the repetitive tasks that consultants or employees perform; the majority of these tasks could easily be automated. This is where System Center Orchestrator comes in. System Center Orchestrator, formerly known as Opalis, is a graphical automation engine that companies or organizations can use to easily automate these repetitive tasks.

System Center Orchestrator provides a graphical programming experience for automated workflows that will eliminate these simple repetitive tasks. Your automation is built in what Microsoft calls runbooks. A runbook is built up from linking different activities from different integration packs together, so that they represent a workflow or process.
