Using the Miter Flange tool
The next tool we’re going to explore is the Miter Flange tool. This can be used to add flanges to one or more edges and, in many ways, is similar to the Edge Flange tool. However, the Miter Flange tool requires you to sketch a cross-section profile of the flange, allowing much more complex flanges to be created fairly easily.
To create a Miter Flange, proceed as follows:
- Open your Base Flange part from the previous section and delete any extra flanges, cuts, or tabs so that just the Base Flange remains. Alternatively, you can start a new part document and create a Base Flange

thick. - The most important step of creating a Miter Flange is sketching the cross-section profile of the flange. This can be done either before selecting the Miter Flange tool or the tool can be selected first, and this will prompt you to select or draw a sketch.
