Summary
In this chapter, we started by reviewing the different phases of a cyber attack. Then we learned how to use Nmap to check for vulnerabilities in our infrastructure and make the scanning phase of an attack harder for an attacker.
Then we reviewed the most common Wi-Fi vulnerabilities and how to address them. Additionally, we also learned how to create a Wi-Fi user security guide to reduce risks when using a wireless network. This is a great asset that you can leverage to support your network security strategy and educate users.
After that, we moved to a more technical topic and learned how to use Wireshark to find vulnerabilities and even did a couple of labs to see in real time how attackers can capture your data (including passwords) when you use insecure protocols.
And finally, we closed this journey through network security by doing an overview of IDS and IPS, what they are, some examples of them, and a comparison between them for you to better understand the differences...
