Workflow

As discussed briefly in Chapter 1, What Is Cloud Pak for Business Automation?, a workflow is about the orchestration of activities that can be performed by humans, robots (for example, RPA), and systems.

Some workflow systems only sequence APIs, but those systems are typically more focused on connecting two or three systems, with the assumption that the sequence will be completed within a short duration (usually a few seconds or less). To truly support a business workflow to coordinate work between humans, robots, and systems, IBM Business Automation Workflow, or its lightweight variant, IBM Workflow Process Service (WfPS), supports a much richer and more flexible function set.
