Importing raster images of different dpi
In this recipe we will familiarize ourselves with importing raster images into Inkscape and learn how to handle images of different dpi that we plan to export in the end. We will use two of the images we exported in the last recipe as examples.
How to do it...
The following steps will demonstrate how to import raster images:
1. Open the File | Import dialog (Ctrl + I), and navigate to the folder with the images extracted in the last recipe. Select the

file and press Open.2. Another small dialog will open with the choice to embed or link the image; choose embed and press OK.
3. Open the Import dialog again(Ctrl + I), navigate to the folder with the images extracted in the last recipe, select the
rectangle180dpi.png
, and press Open.4. This time choose to link the image and press OK.
5. Open the XML Editor (Shift + Ctrl + X) and the last image should be selected in the left pane. Select the
