Summary

In this chapter, we focused on the technological enablement of the DevOps 360° operating model. We outlined the inevitably strong value proposition of technology for the DevOps evolution, and we analyzed the term technological ecosystem, also outlining the six main organisms that comprise it. We continued by looking into arguments on busting the myth of equalizing DevOps with technology, concluding that technology is just another enabler of DevOps and not its whole essence. Afterward, we moved on to discuss two initiatives that currently dominate incumbents’ DevOps technology agenda, which are engineering transformation and technology standardization. On the latter, apart from outlining its value proposition, we also discussed why it is important to take precautions.
