Integration patterns and protocols
Integration patterns and protocols are the segway for data transmission across the layers. As an industry, we have expanded the original OSI model to suit our evolving IoT needs. This model consists of four essential layers within which multiple sublayers are abstracted – the hardware layer, the infrastructure layer, the management layer, and the business layer. Roughly, the infrastructure and a part of the management layer are part of the on-premises setup or the edge setup. The importance of protocols across layers is visualized in Figure 3.5:
