Humans are storytelling creatures. This condition is inherent to our nature. When our ancestors first gathered together around a campfire, stories started to be told, and language developed accordingly. The vital purpose of storytelling has always been to transfer knowledge so that it can stick in the minds of listeners and persuade them. Since the dawn of humanity, culture has been transmitted through stories: they were passed down through generations verbally, well before writing (and PowerPoint presentations) existed.
Nowadays, our daily life is utterly immersed in stories. Brands communicate through narratives: commercials will urge you to buy a product through a story instead of merely enumerating the reasons why you should do so. What do you do when you chat with a good friend or meet a colleague by the coffee machine? You will tell stories about your life rather than making a cold inventory of your past activities.
