Creating a report requirements matrix
A report requirements matrix is the intersection of the requested reports and the entities which are used by these reports.
Getting ready
Gather the blueprint information from Chapter 5, The Blueprint, and report mock-ups.
How to do it...
The report requirements matrix is an effective tool for identifying reports and potentially consolidating similar or duplicate reports:
1. Open you data lineage spreadsheet and create an additional tab called Report Requirements Matrix:
2. Add your business entities to the top of the worksheet and your report names to the left-hand side of the worksheet:
3. Map your business entities to your reports by using the semantic model developed in Chapter 5, The Blueprint, and the decomposed requirements from Chapter 6, Analyzing the Requirements:
