Understanding Squarespace templates

Squarespace templates are basically readymade kits for website design. Each template contains certain stylistic and structural elements that you can apply to your website. It may help to compare them to kits of Lego toys: each one is unique, and each comes with certain pieces that you can use to create something that looks very much like the picture on the box. Although you may be able to use your imagination to create other things using these pieces, there are certain restrictions that apply depending on the kit you have purchased. For example, if you buy a kit to make a castle, it is unlikely that you will be able to build a very good racecar—and vice versa. Some kits have many different pieces, offering a lot of complex options. Others have fewer pieces or pieces with very specific shapes and therefore, less scope for creativity.
