In this chapter, the first recipe Adding an application and database on an Essbase server is used to build the outline from a Basic.otl
outline file, which is included in this book. This recipe is important as the Sample Basic
database is used in the next five chapters. In the following five recipes, we will build and load the Sample
Basic
database using the Outline Editor and
dimension build rules. Moreover, we will also discuss more intermediate topics such as creating and using substitution variables, applying If/Else logic, and creating Text and Date measures to name a few. In addition, we will touch on the more advanced topics of creating
