Using the DATAEXPORT function to extract data into a text file
In this recipe, we will export data in a format that can easily be loaded into the relational environment. The DATAEXPORT
function does not have the breadth and depth of report scripts as its purpose is to retrieve data for integration and not reporting. On the other hand, it can use the calculator cache to retrieve data in a tabular format, which makes it much faster than the equivalent report scripts. The
DATAEXPORT
function does not allow you to specify the order of each row or column, but you can specify what dense dimension you would like see in the columns. Another difference between a report script and the DATAEXPORT
function is that these types of calculations can only be run on a block storage cube. This functionality is not supported in the aggregate storage model.
