Summary
In the first part of this chapter, we covered dependencies and package management in detail, focusing on pacman and pamac. We then looked at the basics of Environment Variables, as they are essential for many applications. We finished by explaining the essence of FOSS licenses, as they define whether or not we can use specific SW commercially and when we must disclose our changes to the public.
In Chapter 9, we will continue with the fundamental aspects of the filesystem, beginning with an overview of its basics and the different file types. We will cover topics such as links, attributes, and inodes in depth. Next, we will examine the history and types of filesystems and conclude by examining the Linux filesystem structure, focusing on Manjaro. We will finally investigate external storage volumes, go deeper into the NTFS filesystem usage and automount, and close with a short section on self-healing and RAID.
