Using the clip plane


A clip plane is an object that can be added to a scene and later used in the Movie mode, and it can be animated to produce a kind of reveling effect. Initially, it may seem a little bit confusing, but after reading this recipe, you will understand how to apply it to your scene and animate this plane.

Getting ready

To begin this recipe, add some 3D models to your scene in order to see how this effect works.

How to do it…

To add and use the clip plane, you need to perform the following steps:

  1. From the left-hand side of the screen, select the Objects menu and click on the Lights and special objects button.

  2. Open Lights And Utilities Library and click on the Utilities tab.

  3. Place the clip plane in the scene and almost everything will disappear.

  4. Click on the Change height button and start to bring the place upward.

  5. As you can perceive, while moving the clip plane upward, you can start seeing the 3D models in your terrain again.
