Summary
In this chapter, we discussed the basic Microsoft Teams Phone System terminology and licensing. You learned both basic telephony and networking terms (such as SIP and SBC), as well as Teams-specific terms such as auto attendants and call queues. We also explored the core Teams architecture designs (Calling Plans, Direct Routing, and Operator Connect).
We examined the features of various architectures and also discussed Microsoft's best practices for networking configuration. These best practices included configuring QoS, enabling VPN-split tunneling, and using network planning tools such as the Teams Network Planner tool. Microsoft recommends a network assessment in order to get a clear understanding of your organization's network capabilities. Identifying and remediating network issues will help prevent a poor user onboarding experience.
