Deploying VM Extensions

VM extensions are applications that you can install as part of the script or post-deployment. For example, you could add antimalware applications to a VM. VM extensions can be configured for existing and future deployments.

Exercise 13.9: Deploying a VM Extension Using the Portal

In this exercise, you are going to configure the Microsoft Antimalware extension for an existing Windows VM:

1. Navigate to the Azure portal by opening a web browser and going to https://portal.azure.com.
2. Navigate to one of your scale-set VMs.
3. Under the Settings tab for the VM, select Extensions + applications and click on Add on the next page.
4. Now, scroll down and select the Microsoft Antimalware extension, click on the card, then click Next.

5. You can choose the antimalware settings for your VM; for this scenario, you are going to leave them at the default settings and click Review...
