Transformational leadership
Leadership can come in all different styles and forms. It can be formal or informal. It can be a one-person job or a shared task. We have all had experiences with both good and bad bosses that have affected our mood in the morning before going to work. Great leadership has been shown to lead to positive emotions in team members, a higher sense of pride, better outcomes in the workplace, and higher job satisfaction. On the other hand, destructive leadership can lead to the opposite, creating a stressful work environment and insecure team members.
Psychological safety demands a certain type of supportive leadership that sets the stage for those types of behaviors, such as talking about mistakes, inviting the participation of all group members, and aiming to create high-quality relationships within the team and with external parties.
