In the previous chapter, we dealt with automation at the command line. We touched on the at, atq, and atrm commands. Following this, we worked with the various cron directories, and then we covered the crontab utility. Additionally, we covered anacron. Finally, we looked at restrictions in terms of automation.
In this chapter, our focus is on maintaining the system time and performing logging. First, we will cover configuration of the system time, synchronizing time over a network. Then our attention will be on the various log files. Finally, we will perform remote logging between separate Linux systems.
