The ability to use more than one polling server has been introduced with Cacti 1.x. This new feature, called remote poller concept, finally allows the distribution of the actual polling to multiple systems. Previous versions of Cacti were limited by the hardware setup or additional tools and plugins like the multipoller plugin and the commercially-available CereusAgent were required to be used in order to implement this functionality. This chapter will show you how to set up a multipoller environment with one master system for the configuration and a data display part and two systems providing the actual polling functionality.
