Who uses APIs?
APIs aren’t used exclusively by developers. More than half of API users have roles unrelated to software development. According to the 2022 State of the API Report published by Postman, Inc., a survey of about 40,000 API professionals revealed that the most representative non-developer roles sum up more than 20%. Another similar report published by RapidAPI corroborates this by showing that only 80% of the respondents have a developer role. Additionally, API users come from a variety of industries. While technology companies occupy the largest share of API users, other industries, such as education, healthcare, and banking, represent about 20%, according to the reports mentioned previously.
