Networking components
Azure offers a wide range of networking components, from the simplistic to the highly specialized. Performing a quick search for network-related services in the Azure portal yields an extensive list.
One way to reference the use cases for the various cloud services provided is to cross-reference them with the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, which breaks down various levels of communications from the physical network to the application itself and is widely known by many network professionals. Figure 4.3 illustrates the mapping of Azure network services to the various layers of the OSI model. Keep in mind that this mapping is meant to be illustrative of the general types of communication involved and not necessarily a means of endorsement of specific cloud services for a specific use case.
