Summary

In this chapter, we saw what options are available for adopting observability for applications running on AWS and in Hybrid mode. We understood what native AWS services are available to support observability needs in a distributed application environment and where they would be useful. We also covered what AWS-managed open source services are available on AWS. Then, we understood high-level ways to choose the AWS and open source managed services dimensions when adopting the observability requirements for an organization.

In the next chapter, we will start understanding each of the services in detail, starting with CloudWatch Metrics and CloudWatch Logs.
