Dynamically replacing values
Being able to make dynamic replacements in the data based on formulas or conditions helps us to shape our data perfectly.
The Dynamic Replace tool is one underestimated tool within the Alteryx arsenal that allows us to create rules to replace values within a field or set of fields. In this recipe, we’ll be using it to perform some powerful transformations in the data values.

In this test set, we have some data coming from survey software that we need to standardize and shape.
The questions for this particular survey are as follows:
- Q1 – Are you a current customer?
- Q2 – The service I receive is what I expect…
- Q3 – Have you contacted customer services in the last three months?
- Q4 – My customer service experience was great...
