Understanding Selection Fundamentals
In this chapter, we will learn about the different selection styles. A selection enables us to isolate an area of an image. The selected area will be the only thing affected once a selection is established. We are able to make selections on raster layers containing pixels. By reflecting on Chapter 1, Taking Your Design and Editing to the Next Level with Photopea, we know that pixels are tiny individual rectangular colored dots. The more pixels you have, the better the quality and more details you can add to an image or digital painting, and the easier it will be to make selections.
By the end of this chapter, you will be able to identify and apply the fundamental techniques of making various selections on different objects, figures, and other elements ranging from simple shapes with color, to more complex selections such as human hair.
