Updating an iPhone
An iPhone is nothing more than a computer running an operating system. With the iPhone, the operating system is called iOS, which Apple updates annually with major changes and throughout the year with minor changes.
Generally, you want to keep your iPhone updated to the latest operating system version since that will offer the most features, along with fixing bugs from previous operating system versions. However, sometimes the latest software updates can prove buggy, which means if you install it on your iPhone, you could wreck its performance.
For that reason, you may want to turn off automatic updates. Automatic updates is designed to update your iPhone and keep it current without you having to consciously install the latest operating system yourself. However, you may want to wait before updating just in case people report troubles with the latest update.
