Introduction


Based on what we learned in the previous chapter, you now know that in order to start our System Center 2016 VMM deployment, we should create the service accounts and deploy the SQL database.

As discussed, VMM is required to be an Active Directory (AD) member server.

In addition, it is up to business requirements and your design to decide where you will deploy the SQL database. However, as previously stated in Chapter 1, VMM 2016 Architecture, you should always have SQL installed on a separate server. In this way, you are safe to grow and you will have the scalability and high availability (if installing a SQL cluster) on the database side.

For the purposes of this chapter, we will be referring to the following infrastructure:
