Chapter 4. SQL Server Reporting

This chapter briefly examines the tools available to create and customize reports using Report Definition Language (RDL). Team Foundation Server 2013 includes a set of out-of-the-box RDL reports. These reports vary by the type of process template you choose to use for your project. This chapter will demonstrate how to create RDL reports using two main tools for this purpose: SQL Server Report Builder and Report Designer. SQL reports in TFS 2013 allow for much more detailed reports than Excel reporting.

This chapter covers the following topics:

  • SQL Server Reporting Services
  • SQL Server Reporting Tools
  • Understanding default SQL reports
  • Creating custom SQL reports
