Key benefits

  • In-depth exploration of OOP concepts, including classes, objects, attributes, and methods
  • Detailed coverage of core OOP topics, such as encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism
  • Practical examples and exercises to reinforce understanding and application of OOP principles

Description

Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) is a crucial paradigm in modern programming that allows developers to write efficient, modular, and scalable code. It helps in organizing code, creating reusable and maintainable code, and improving code readability. In this course, we will dive deep into OOP concepts and provide you with a solid understanding of the fundamentals, advanced topics, and real-world applications of OOP in Python. This course covers a wide range of topics, starting with the basics of OOP, including classes, objects, attributes, methods, and constructors. You will learn about encapsulation, abstraction, inheritance, and polymorphism, which are the building blocks of OOP. You will also explore advanced concepts such as class methods, static methods, operator overloading, and dunder methods, along with practical examples and exercises to solidify your understanding. To apply the concepts learned, you will build a real-world project, the Library Management System, where you will learn to create classes, objects, and methods for managing books and users. You will also gain hands-on experience with method overriding, multiple inheritances, and other advanced topics while building practical applications. By the end of this course, you will have a deep understanding of OOP concepts in Python, be able to build robust and scalable applications using OOP principles, and possess the skills to write clean, efficient, and maintainable Python code.

Who is this book for?

This course is tailored for programmers and developers who aspire to deepen their understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and apply them in real-world applications. It is well-suited for beginners who are already familiar with Python basics and are looking to transition into OOP programming. Intermediate Python developers seeking to enhance their coding skills and learn advanced OOP topics will also find value in this course. Prior knowledge of Python programming concepts is required, including variables, data types, loops, and functions. If you are eager to learn and apply OOP principles practically in Python, this comprehensive course will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.

What you will learn

  • Understand the fundamentals of Object-Oriented Programming in Python
  • Build real-world projects using OOP concepts in Python
  • Apply polymorphism in object-oriented styles using multiple strategies
  • Implement OOP principles to create reusable and maintainable Python code
  • Build a Library Management System using OOP concepts
  • Master the use of classes, objects, attributes, methods, and constructors in Python

There were a couple parts that went too fast or were not quite clear but the presenter did an overall great job explaining the various parts of OOP in Python and I learned a lot. I consider myself to be an intermediate programmer with a weakness in OOP and I found this useful.

Very interesting topic, but not clearly presented in my opinion. Despite the continous hope for "being superclear", for me it was not clear, e. g. was is the difference between __str__ and _repr__ (falls from sky), the @property subject was only shortly presented (I got more info about properties from Internet), the subject of private/magic names was more disturbing than "superclear" (should I now use __name instead of _name for private vars?), and the last chapter with the example (20% of video) was in nearly no way connected to all the subjects before (inheritance, MRO, private vars, multiple classes, static/class/instance methods and vars, string representations ...), in spite of the usefulness of the example (library). It was in fact only a main method with several helper functions which was completely put into a "class". So, much chance was left out to see all these topics in real-live and usefully applicated. Good was the variety of OOP-related subjects. Many of them, I will research further in internet.

The author is not a teacher. Doesn't explain anything. Using Jupiter is not that effective in my opinion. Also, there was no real mention of how to see the scripts. Fortunately, I had a little experience with Jupiter and was able to load them. I am only about half-way through his e-book. Maybe it will end up better.

Can I download the code files for Early Access titles? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon

We try to ensure that all books in Early Access have code available to use, download, and fork on GitHub. This helps us be more agile in the development of the book, and helps keep the often changing code base of new versions and new technologies as up to date as possible. Unfortunately, however, there will be rare cases when it is not possible for us to have downloadable code samples available until publication.

When we publish the book, the code files will also be available to download from the Packt website.

How accurate is the publication date? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon

The publication date is as accurate as we can be at any point in the project. Unfortunately, delays can happen. Often those delays are out of our control, such as changes to the technology code base or delays in the tech release. We do our best to give you an accurate estimate of the publication date at any given time, and as more chapters are delivered, the more accurate the delivery date will become.

How will I know when new chapters are ready? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon

We'll let you know every time there has been an update to a course that you've bought in Early Access. You'll get an email to let you know there has been a new chapter, or a change to a previous chapter. The new chapters are automatically added to your account, so you can also check back there any time you're ready and download or read them online.

Early Access helps to unlock the potential of our content early, to help you start your learning when you need it most. You not only get access to every chapter as it's delivered, edited, and updated, but you'll also get the finalized, DRM-free product to download in any format you want when it's published.
