An introduction to compliance settings
Compliance settings contains tools to help you assess the compliance of devices and users for many different configurations, such as whether the correct operating system is installed and configured appropriately, whether all required applications are installed and configured correctly, whether optional applications are configured appropriately, and whether any prohibited applications are installed. Additionally, you can check for compliance using any of the following:
- Software updates
- Security settings
- Mobile devices
Configuration item settings using any of the following types can be automatically remediated when noncompliant settings are found:
- Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
- Registry
- Script
- All mobile device settings
Tip
The majority of WMI settings are read only, so you are unlikely to be able to remediate the majority of the WMI settings.
