Chapter 6. Unified Communications Projects in Practice

In this chapter, we will go through the creation of a practical customer project.

The objective of this chapter is to use a common project scenario to demonstrate how traditional telephony can be integrated into a new software-based communication technology, especially where desktop PCs and the physical network environment needs to be a part of the change and project scope.

By using a fictional company called Contoso, we will see how the Microsoft Unified Communications platform is implemented based on very specific business requirements in an enterprise.

Other than learning how to evaluate, drive, and realize unified communications projects, there are also a number of other important takeaway points in this chapter. It includes preparation/work that needs to be done in order to convince all your stakeholders to support the project, and the change in the collaboration and communication both inside and outside the company.
