Time for action—routing an instrument to a channel on the FX Mixer
It is important to be able to separate out audio streams from different instruments in LMMS. Let's assign the instrument now:
- If you grab the illuminated number above where it says FX CHNL, you can drag up and down to change the assignment of this instrument to the Mixer. These channels can have effects placed on them, pass the audio through the plugins, and then send the audio on its way to the master channel.
- Let's try assigning the bass line to FX Channel 1. We should see the audio playing through the FX-Mixer now. Oh wait... we don't!
What just happened?
Oh, that's right. We muted the bass line in the Beats+Bassline Editor. Go and unmute that instrument and we should now see the audio playing through the FX-Mixer:
