Time for action—editing note length and root pitch in the Beats+Bassline Editor
Almost all instruments in the electronic music world give us the opportunity to shape the pitch and duration of sound using simple parameters. Let's have a look at some of the ways we can use the basic synth parameters to bend the sound to our will:
- Click on the synth in the editor and then look for this area:
- Let's click on the area called ENV/LFO. This should open a screen that looks similar to the following screenshot:

An envelope is a way of altering the knobs controlling an instrument over time.
- This area of the instrument is where we are going to alter the length of the triggered sound. There are seven knobs related to how this particular envelope is affecting volume on this instrument. We're going to deal with the HOLD knob.
- Turn the HOLD knob to 0.
- Now our sound has the proper length. It's pitched a bit high, though.
