Understanding the Agile methodology
The Agile methodology is a galaxy of best practices and techniques. A lot of still widely used methodologies inspired Agile (such as Scrum and Kanban), but the official birth of the movement stems from the Agile Manifesto, published in 2001. The four very popular key concepts (values) of the Agile Manifesto are as follows:
- Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
- Working software over comprehensive documentation
- Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
- Responding to change over following a plan
While some of the preceding points can be misinterpreted and result in bad behaviors, such as ditching documentation and planning, it's enlightening to think about such simple but powerful advice.
