As I write these words, the entire world is in a state of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Extraordinary times, to say the least. However bleak the situation may be—and at this point, there is much to feel anxious about—it is at times such as these where humanity's ingenuity rises to the occasion. Many in the maker community, which I am a part of, have with astonishing speed taken to creating personal protective equipment (PPE) with 3D printers for those on the front lines. Factories designed to produce cars have quickly transitioned to making much-needed medical equipment. Entertainers continue to entertain us, teachers continue to teach their students, and leaders continue to inform us, all through the miracle of modern video and internet technologies.
Somewhere, the next Isaac Newton is using the time in lockdown developing the next breakthrough...
