Configuring Service Directory and DNS
To start configuring Service Directory, we need to create a namespace first. This is accessible from the Navigation Menu; then we select Network services and we click Service Directory, as Figure 8.15 shows:
Important Note
When doing this for the first time, you will need to enable the Service Directory API as with most of the GCP services.

You will create a namespace after you register your first service. Click on the REGISTER SERVICE button at the top. A new wizard will guide you to the service creation.
You can choose between Private Service Connect and Standard service types. Choose Private Service Connect when you want to send API requests to the internal IP address of a private service connect endpoint. Select Standard as the service type for any other case, as Figure 8.16 shows:
